Solibri IFC Optimizer
Challenges
Data storage costs increases as the amount of information grows. The increased collaboration and regulatory requirements to save data also serve to grow the costs. The most used IFC exchange format is uneconomic. The size of building models are normally from few megabytes up to hundreds of megabytes.
Solution
Solibri IFC Optimizer is an ultimate IFC tool that can be used to optimize IFC files. Optimization is lossless and the size of the result file is normally 5-10% of the original. During optimization all redundancy is removed from the file by updating the references. The resulting file contains e.g. identical lines only once.
While pure compression (zip) reduces the typical file size to 15-30% of the original the typical loading (IFC import) time does not change. With Solibri IFC Optimizer the optimized and compressed file is only about 6% of the original file size and it load in 17% of the original loading time. The actual ratios depend on how much redundance the original file has.
These numbers on the table are average numbers for an office building modeled with Autodesk ADT, Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft Archicad, and Bentley Architecture and exported in IFC format.
Solibri IFC Optimizer is free software. Java Webstart technology allows you to use Solibri IFC Optimizer in almost any operating system from anywhere without stand alone installation.
